Ever since sin entered the world after the fall of Adam and Eve, we have been in continual need of repentance. All of us sin at different points in our lives and damage our relationship with God. Whenever we do sin, we should repent fully and do all we can to repair our relationship with God.
When we do go to Confession, we must be wholly repentant for our sins. Repentance is a grace from God. As we work to advance in holiness and virtue, we should pray continually for the grace of repentance for our sins.
We should also pray for the grace of repentance for others in our lives, so that they may grow closer to God and repair their friendships with Him.

Dear Lord, we thank You and praise You for the gift of Your mercy. We ask for the grace of repentance in our lives and in the lives of all people.
You call us to be obedient to Your laws in our lives. But because of Original Sin, we are inclined to turn from You in sin many times throughout our lives. We sometimes have great difficulty coming to true repentance for sins we have committed, even if we know that we should repent.
Please pour the grace of repentance into our hearts. And we especially ask today that You give the grace of repentance to all who are struggling to repent for past sins.
Help us to return to You each time we fall away from You. Give us the grace to grow closer to You each day of our lives.

You have truly shown Your mercy and Your willingness to forgive by giving us the great sacrament of Confession. We do not always make good use of this sacrament and often neglect to confess our sins to You when we should.
Please pour the grace of repentance into our hearts. And we especially ask today that You help us and all who are in need of repentance to grow in appreciation and recourse to the sacrament of Confession.
Help us to resolve firmly to never offend You again. Give us the grace to do all we can to avoid sin.
